WHAT IS SCIATICA?

Sciatica is a term used to describe a number of symptoms resulting from a pinched sciatic nerve. Some symptoms may include pain in the hip or buttocks with numbness, tingling, cramping, burning or weakness in the leg or foot. Sometimes Sciatica can be mistaken for a herniated disc, arthritis, or muscle spasms because their symptoms are so similar. However, unlike these other conditions, sciatic pain is centered around the hip or hamstrings, and rarely causes low back pain.
